Puzzled? Hopefully problems are solved
Many readers noticed that the crossword solutions in last week’s comics section did not correspond with the previous week’s puzzle. This week, you may have noticed that the comics section puzzle page is a repeat from last week.
Here’s what’s going on:
The Sunday comics section is printed several weeks in advance by a pagination company based in Denver. The pagination company ran the wrong puzzle in the March 30 section, basically skipping a week. That puzzle is repeated again in this week’s comics section. These errors were discovered well after the sections had already been printed.
On page D6, you’ll find the crossword and solutions that were supposed to run in the March 30 comics section. This set of solutions corresponds with the puzzles that ran in the March 23 comics section.
The solutions inside today’s comics section correspond with the puzzle on page D6.
The company responsible for the error has assured us they will take steps to prevent it from happening again. We know that many readers look forward to the crossword puzzle every day, and we will continue to do our best to make sure it is delivered properly.
