LCSC shuts out Bucs
Matt Fitts pitched seven strong innings, allowing only two hits and striking out nine, to lead Lewis-Clark State to a 14-0 non-conference victory over Whitworth University Thursday in the final home game of the season at Merkel Field in Spokane.
Kyle Greene, who hit his team-leading 16th home run of the season, was one of six Warriors (37-4) who homered off Whitworth (11-25) pitchers.
Mickey Pingree, Brian Ward, Josh Ashenbrenner, Chris Valencia and Bret Spencer also homered for Lewis-Clark State.
Jon Whiteside and Mitch Ramsey were the only Pirates to get hits against Fitts.
LCSC, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, shut out Whitworth for the second straight game.
The Pirates will finish their season April 26-27 at Whitman College in Walla Walla with a pair of Northwest Conference doubleheaders.
