Gonzaga stuns Oregon State
Marcus McKimmy’s two-run double capped a six-run eighth inning after two were out and the Gonzaga Bulldogs rallied for an 11-6 win over the two-time defending champion Oregon State Beavers (20-15) in non-conference play at Washington Trust Field on Tuesday.
Evan Wells had two hits and drove in four runs and Jason Chatwood went 4 for 6 with three RBIs for Gonzaga (26-18).
Men’s golf
Washington State Cougars sophomore Kevin Tucker carded a 1-over-par 72 to move into a tie for 11th place after the third round of the four-round Pac-10 Championships at Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
Tucker’s three-round total is 1-over 214.
The Cougars are in last place with a 61-over total of 1,126.
•Idaho Vandals sophomore David Nuhn is tied for 16th after shooting a second-round 7-over 79 at the three-round Western Athletic Conference Championships at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose, Calif.
Nuhn has a two-round total of 153 for the Vandals, who sit in seventh place in the nine-team tournament.
Track and field
The Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch had a pair of third-place finishers at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College Multievents Championships at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham, Ore.
Tim Armstrong won the 110-meter hurdles and amassed 5,929 points in the men’s decathlon. Lane CC’s Bruce Burbank (6,103) was the winner.
Taylor Cook tallied 3,844 points in the women’s heptathlon.
Lane CC’s Danica Bates (4,232) was the winner.
