Frame enters third round in 2nd place
Colbert’s Bezdiceks lead younger girls divisions
Hank Frame of Spokane Valley stands in second place in the boys 16-17 division after two rounds of the Washington Junior Golf Association’s 32nd state championship in Spokane.
Frame shot a 72 Thursday at Spokane Country Club and is at 2-under-par 141, two behind Reid Martin of Mukilteo.
Rui Li of Kent shot a 72 at SCC and leads the girls 16-17 division by four shots. Kaitlen Parsons of Greenacres (160) is 12 shots back.
Savanna Bezdicek of Colbert (157) is the co-leader in girls 14-15 after her second round at Manito Golf and Country Club. Sierra Bezdicek of Colbert (142) played her second round at Wandermere Golf Course and leads the girls 12-13.
•Chris Williams of Moscow shot a final-round 73 and finished in fourth place at the TEE UP Junior Challenge at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif.
Williams (211) finished six shots back.
Baseball
Nick Freitas hit a two-out, two-run homer to left field in the ninth inning to give the Kelowna Falcons (18-17) a 6-4 win over the Spokane RiverHawks (17-19) in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League play at Gonzaga University’s Patterson Baseball Complex.
The loss went to Jake Hiatt (2-2), who entered after Logan Boyd’s RBI single in the eighth tied the game at 4.
Women’s soccer
Whitworth is ranked second in the Northwest Conference coaches’ preseason poll. The Pirates received one first-place vote and 72 points. Puget Sound, with eight first-place votes, is favored to win its seventh consecutive NWC title.
