Athletics 4, Tigers 2: At Detroit, Emil Brown homered and Rajai Davis drove in two runs to help Oakland snap its 10-game losing streak with a victory over the Tigers. Marcus Thames homered for Detroit, which has lost seven of its last eight. Kenny Rogers took the loss.

Indians 5, Blue Jays 2: At Toronto, Ben Francisco and Shin-soo Choo each had two RBIs and Anthony Reyes won his Cleveland debut as the Indians defeated the Blue Jays. Jensen Lewis got three outs for his first career save.

Orioles 9, Rangers 1: At Baltimore, Jeremy Guthrie allowed one run in seven innings to win his third straight start, Kevin Millar homered twice and the Orioles cruised past Texas. Brian Roberts, Juan Castro and Ramon Hernandez each had two RBIs for Baltimore.

White Sox 5, Red Sox 3: At Chicago, Mark Buehrle took a shutout into the eighth and the White Sox handed Jon Lester his first loss in 2 1/2 months, hanging on to beat Boston. Lester suffered his first loss since May 25 after going 7-0 in his previous 11 starts. He allowed four runs and six hits in seven innings.

Twins 4, Royals 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Kevin Slowey limited the Royals to one run on seven hits in six innings, Joe Mauer drove in two runs and Minnesota took advantage of eight walks to get the victory over Kansas City. Slowey did not walk a batter and struck out two in 5 2/3 innings.

Angels 10, Yankees 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Torii Hunter had four hits with a home run and four RBIs, Howie Kendrick tied a career high with four hits and Los Angeles beat New York. Vladimir Guerrero had three hits and scored three runs for the Angels.
