Spokane’s Goodall earns spot in lacrosse hall

Samuel “Trip” Goodall of Spokane has been selected for 2008 induction into the Washington State Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Goodall, 53, a former high school principal and current school district administrator in Deer Park, is being honored for playing an instrumental role in bringing the sport of lacrosse to the Inland Northwest. He joins a class of five who have worked to increase the popularity of lacrosse in Washington.

After founding one of the most successful varsity high school programs in the state on Bainbridge Island near Seattle and leading the team to two state championships, Goodall co-founded the Spokane Youth Lacrosse Association (SYLA) in 2007. In 2008, more than 60 youths participated on SYLA teams. Goodall was also an organizer of the Washington Lacrosse Council and was a co-founder in 1984 of the Great Northwest Lacrosse Camp, the first lacrosse camp in the region, now known as the Elite 80 Camp.

Goodall was a three-time Mid-American Conference champion at Pennsylvania’s Franklin and Marshall College in the 1970s. He chairs the Washington State Special Education Advisory Council.

The Class of 2008 was nominated for induction by their peers and chosen by a selection committee from the Washington State Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. They will be enshrined Oct. 4 at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.
