Priest River fends off Cheney
Taylor Stewart banked in the winning shot just before the buzzer sounded, lifting Priest River to a 43-41 non-league girls basketball victory over Cheney on Saturday.
Stewart led the Spartans (2-3) with 13 points. Melissa Hopkins scored 10 points and had 12 rebounds before fouling out, and Jamie Koch added 12 points for Priest River, which led by nine at half. Allie Brown had 12 points for the visiting Blackhawks (0-2).
Post Falls 53, Enumclaw 30: Jordan Schoening made seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points in three quarters as the Trojans (6-2) capped a 3-0 road trip to the Seattle area. Katelyn Loper contributed 15 points, six rebounds and two steals. Post Falls took control by outscoring Enumclaw 30-13 in the second and third quarters.
St. John-Endicott 79, Sprague-Harrington 26: The Eagles (3-0) forced 24 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 39-22 against the visiting Falcons. Trisha Luft had a double-double (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Kelly Van Lith had 19 points. Kelsey Simon added 17 points. Katlyn Lawman led Sprague-Harrington with 13 points.
Moscow 57, Bonners Ferry 37: Freshmen Taylor Anderson (23 points) Chelsea Waters (15) and Abi Quinnett (10) carried the Bears (2-5) to victory. Alicia Hedrick led the Badgers (3-1) with 10 points.
Lapwai 48, Kootenai 18: The host Wildcats built a 20-point lead at half and 28-point edge after three quarters. Kirsten Scheffelmaier and Kami Haynes each had four points for the Warriors (0-4).
Grangeville 57, St. Maries 31: The visiting Lumberjacks were undone by the second and third quarters when they were outscored 41-19. Karly Truscott led St. Maries with nine points and five assists. Doris Sines added seven points. The Lumberjacks (2-4) had 15 of their 22 turnovers in the first half. Kylie Brown led defending state champion Grangeville with 15 points.
Freeman 82, Northwest Christian 32: MacKenzie Taylor pulled down 15 rebounds as the Scotties (3-0) dominated the boards 58-31. Megan McIntyre had 21 points and Carley Heinen scored 20 points. Bryanna Bailey had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Crusaders (1-1).
Garfield-Palouse 30, Genesee 28: The Vikings (3-0), trailing by eight after three quarters, pulled out the win in the final minute. Kasey Adair had 14 points, four steals and four rebounds, and Shealyn Weagraff hit a big free throw in the closing seconds for Gar-Pal.
Springdale 73, Odessa 21: Kelsey Fitzgerald scored a team-high 19 points and Shelbea Rainbolt added 15 as the visiting Chargers (2-0) bolted in front 24-4 after one quarter and were never threatened. Springdale attempted 35 free throws to Odessa’s four. The Tigers (0-2) were led by Corrine Kinney’s nine points.
Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 43, Reardan 24: Nine players scored for the balanced Eagles (2-0), who built a commanding 41-15 lead after three quarters. Lexie Zappone had seven steals as Lakeside forced 30 Reardan turnovers. Bailey Wiedmer and Aly Peone each had six points for the visiting Indians (1-1).
Medical Lake 39, Newport 33: Kylie Tareski had eight points and four assists, Natalie Pendell grabbed nine rebounds and Chelsea Hardenbrook had eight boards to help the Cardinals (1-0) to a home win over the Grizzlies (2-1), who got 11 points from Pamela Bell.
Liberty 45, Selkirk 28: The Lancers (2-0) jumped in front 7-0 en route to a 26-12 halftime edge over the host Rangers (1-2) at Ione. Teara Cornmesser led Liberty with 17 points and 10 boards. Daneen Green paced the Rangers with seven points.
Colfax 57, Tekoa-Oakesdale 35: Kayla Johnson packed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists to spark the host Bulldogs (1-0). Shelby Puckett scored 16 for the Nighthawks (0-1).
Rosalia 62, Valley Christian 18: Katelyn Maley poured in 21 points and Briann Maley chipped in 12 as the host Spartans (2-1) cruised to victory. Emily Eastburn’s seven points led the Panthers (0-2). Rosalia outscored Valley Christian 31-5 in the third quarter.
Columbia 70, Wilbur-Creston 13: The visiting Lions (1-0) scored the first 18 points, built a 35-5 halftime advantage and rolled past the Wildcats (0-2). Columbia sophomore JulieAnn Larrew had 21 points and Casey Kieffer added 12. W-C’s Taylor Rounds had nine points.
Inchelium 66, Northport 46: Tomi Simpson had 20 points and six rebounds, Serenah Condon contributed 13 points, nine steals, six rebounds and six assists for the victorious Hornets (1-1), who jumped out to a 20-4 lead after one quarter. Shyanne Wilson scored 27 for the Mustangs (0-2).
Riverside Christian 36, St. George’s 24: Senior Madison Hahn scored half of Riverside Christian’s points. The visitors pulled away from a 22-all tie at the end of three quarters with effective pressure defense. The Dragons (1-1), who led 10-2 after one quarter, were sparked by junior Lena Leverett-Standal’s 14 points, but they made just 22 percent from the field.
Liberty Bell 58, Republic 36: Shelby Scott tallied 19 points and Ryligh Ferrill added 14 for the host Mountain Lions, who won at Twisp. Tori Orestad had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (1-2).

Colton 84, Tri-Cities Prep 11: Colton improved to 2-0 with an easy home victory. Kelsey Moser finished with 21 points and nine rebounds. Mollie Kramer added 16 and Courtney Druffel had 14 points and six assists.
