CdA girls win tourney
Kama Griffitts tossed in a game-high 18 points and Amy Warbrick scored 14 to lead the Coeur d’Alene Vikings to a 63-52 girls basketball victory over the Oregon City (Ore.) Pioneers in Tuesday’s championship game of the Diamond State Classic in Wilmington, Del.
Sadie Simon added 11 points for the unbeaten Vikings (12-0), who turned a two-point first-quarter deficit into a 28-24 lead at the half.
Griffitts was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Griffitts, Warbrick and Carli Rosenthal were named to the all-tournament first team.

Walla Walla 62, Lake City 51: Jamie Weisner scored 16 to lead the Blue Devils past the Timberwolves (7-3) at the Holiday Express Invitational at NIC. Katie Baker led LC with 27 points, while Jenny Kerr grabbed 11 rebounds.
Post Falls 65, Mt. Si 43: Jordan Schoening scored 15 on five 3-pointers and Aynslee Stuart added 13 points and five assists to lead the Trojans (9-3) past the WildCats at the Holiday Express Invitational at North Idaho College.
Timberlake 51, Riverside 37: Cassie Thompson had 25 points and 12 rebounds to propel the Tigers (7-2) past the visiting Rams (0-5). Rheanna Kaley topped Riverside with 19 points.
Freeman 50, St. George’s 17: Carley Heinen tallied 16 points and Megan McIntyre scored 12 to lead the unbeaten Scotties (7-0) past the visiting Dragons (2-3). Freeman held the Dragons scoreless in the second quarter.
Liberty 65, Kootenai 14: Teara Carnmesser scored 18 to propel the Lancers (4-0) past the Warriors (0-7) at the Spartan Holiday Tournament in Rosalia. Heather Kjack added 13 points for Liberty.
Rosalia 58, Kootenai 9: Briann Maley had 16 points and the Spartans (3-3) forced 36 turnovers in a win over the Warriors (0-8) at the Spartan Holiday Tournament.
Pullman 63, Lakeland 56: Shelby Cheslek totaled 28 points and 11 rebounds to power the Greyhounds (4-2) to a win over the host Hawks (7-2). Camille Reynolds had 26 points, five steals and five assists for Lakeland.
Springdale 50, Valley Christian 22: Kelsy Fitzgerald and Jerika Cummings combined to score 22 to lead the visiting Chargers (6-1) over the Panthers (0-4).
Lind-Ritzville 69, LaCrosse-Washtucna 25: Sabrina Saetre and Kelsey Arlt scored 13 apiece to propel the Broncos (1-3) past the host Tigercats (0-3).
Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 43, Eatonville 43: Leslie Stillar scored 15 points to lead the Eagles (5-5) past the Cruisers at Chelan’s tournament.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 63, Manson 40: Nikki Osborn finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds as the Warriors (7-0) defeated the Trojans at the Waterville Tournament.

Chief Sealth 61, Coeur d’Alene 58: Jordan Kidd poured in 29 points to send the Seahawks to a win over the Vikings (3-3) at the Holiday Express Invitational at NIC. Devon Austin topped CdA with 22 points, while Connor White scored 13.
Walla Walla 42, Lake City 37: Spencer Hessier and Michael Weisner combined to score 22 to lead the Blue Devils past the Timberwolves (4-2) at the Holiday Express Invitational at North Idaho College. Ben Frisbie topped LC with 10 points.
Post Falls 83, Monroe 67: Justin Carter ripped the nets for 29 points and Shawn Reid added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists to carry the Trojans (4-0) past the Bearcats at the Holiday Express Invitational at NIC.
Hanford 63, Cheney 57: Kyle Wagar and Pete Zachara teamed up to score 35 and power the Falcons to a win over the Blackhawks (1-4) at the Blackhawk Invitational. Cheney’s DeAngelo Jones led all scorers with 21.
Pullman 46, Lakeland 32: Jared Byers totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead the Greyhounds (2-3) over the host Hawks (2-4). Lakeland’s Austin Black had 12 points.
La Salle 54, Lakeside (Nine Mile) 45: Jake DeGooyer tallied 21 points to lead the Lightning past the Eagles (4-6) at the Chelan (Wash.) Tournament. Jacob Hilsabeck topped Lakeside with 20 points.
Freeman 64, St. George’s 38: Chris Miller totaled 18 points, eight assists and nine blocked shots to lead the Scotties (6-1) over the visiting Dragons (2-3). Jordan Dickson led Freeman with 14 points. The Scotties trailed by a point at halftime, but outscored the Dragons 21-0 in the third quarter.
Liberty 64, Kootenai 47: Trever Anderson tallied 18 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists to lead the Lancers (3-1) over the Warriors (0-4) at the Spartan Holiday Tournament in Rosalia.
Rosalia 63, Kootenai 43: Jim Maley netted 16 points and Nathan Richards and Zach St. John added 13 points apiece to lead the Spartans (4-2) over the Warriors (0-4) at the Spartan Holiday Tournament. Kootenai’s Dakota Amy scored 11.
Valley Christian 50, Springdale 48: Gavin Trom stole a pass and scored on a layin with 8 seconds remaining to lift the Panthers (1-3) over the visiting Chargers (4-3). Jamie Bennett scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half for VC. Chris Bossio led Springdale with 14 points.
Lind-Ritzville 47, LaCrosse-Washtucna 34: Jamie Stevenson hit 9 of 10 free throws on the way to 21 points as the Broncos (2-2) defeated the Tigercats (1-1) at Washtucna.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 82, Manson 51: Kyle Tucker had 18 points and Kody Dillon scored 17 to lead the Warriors (4-3) over the Trojans at the Waterville Tournament.
Wrestling
Brandon Matlock won the 112-pound division and Jacob Fry topped the 171-pound weight class to lead the University Titans to the championship of the Mallet Tournament at Rogers High School.
U-Hi piled up 198 points to cruise past runner-up Medical Lake (169.5). Shadle Park (167.5) was third.
Other wrestlers winning titles were: Chewelah’s Brandon Roy (130 pounds), Ethan Fulbright (145), Justin Schramm (189) and Mychael Woods (285); Medical Lake’s Dylan Usselman (103) and AJ Guidry (215); Mead’s Anthony Bond (119) and Kyle Courtney (160); Shadle’s Derek Entz (125) and Tom Harris (140); Rogers’ Jacob Harkness (135); and Mt. Spokane’s Zach Wilkes (152).
