Jerryd Bayless scored a conference-high 39 points in Arizona’s 59-54 loss to ASU last Sunday. Bayless, a freshman, hit 12 of his 18 shots. The rest of the Wildcats were 3 of 23, including Chase Budinger’s 1-of-12 night. … Poor shooting nights were the norm for Oregon’s Tajuan Porter early in the conference season. But the 5-foot-6 guard has turned the corner, hitting 7 of 11 from beyond the arc in the win over Cal as the Ducks converted a school-record 18 3-pointers. Porter, who has yet to miss on 23 free throws in conference play, has hit 15 of his last 27 3-pointers. … Stanford has won seven consecutive games, holding the opposition to 35.7 percent shooting in the process. … OSU has moved Marcel Jones out of the starting lineup and it seems to have helped the senior forward. Jones had 28 points on the Beavers’ Bay Area trip, only the second time this season he’s reached double figures in back-to-back games.
