Freeter (n.)

A term used primarily in Japan to designate a pattern evidenced among young males.

The term is also being adopted in online game systems as a subgroup of players who don’t compete for maximum scores, instead looking mostly for easy diversions.

The original term, in Japan, referred to young workers who continually moved between low-wage jobs.

It was a slightly different group from the Neets — a government classification that started in England. It stood for “not engaged in employment, education or training.” In other words, slackers.
