“You often write about those little things that drive people nuts, so here is mine,” wrote a Spokane woman named Donna.

“I hate it that the newspaper publishes photos of the ‘Five Generations.’ Why are we venerating people who, generation after generation, have children as soon as they possibly can?”

She noted that she would be happy to cheer for the families in question if the generational spacing was just a wee bit wider. “Until then, let’s drop this from the paper. Instead, perhaps we could publish five generations of alumni or five generations of long-term volunteers or five generations of (insert valuable contribution to society here).”

Donna had one more request. “Please don’t use my full name in the paper if you pass this on as I prefer not to be stoned.”
