The conference didn’t fare well in the Bracket Buster games last weekend. WAC teams were a combined 3-6. The only teams to win were Utah State (72-59 over UC Santa Barbara), New Mexico State (80-48 over Long Beach) and Fresno State (76-70 over Cal Poly). WAC leader Boise State fell at home to Siena 93-70 and Southern Illinois spanked visiting Nevada 74-49. … Fresno State senior point guard Kevin Bell was named the player of the week, the first time he’s received the honor. He had 27 points and nine assists and 19 points and nine assists in games last week. … San Jose State (12-14) secured its first season of 10 wins or more since 2001-02. … The conference announced recently that the men’s tournament will return to Nevada for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. The last time the tournament was held in Reno was 2006.
