Week ahead
WSU Cougars
Today: at California, 8 p.m. (FSN)
Saturday: at Stanford, 1 p.m. (FSN)
Outlook: WSU will try to avenge two home losses, but the Cougars will probably have to do it without Daven Harmeling. The junior, who is shooting 47.3 percent on 3-pointers during conference play, rolled his right ankle at practice this week. X-rays were negative, but Harmeling is listed as day-to-day. If Harmeling can’t go, expect Nikola Koprivica and Caleb Forrest to get more time.
Gonzaga Bulldogs
Saturday: vs. Saint Mary’s, 5 p.m. (KHQ)
Monday: vs. Santa Clara, 8:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
Outlook: Saturday will mark the first time two ranked WCC teams have squared off. Saturday’s winner is guaranteed at least a share of the conference title. Gonzaga is shooting for its eighth straight regular-season crown (six of last seven have been outright). Saint Mary’s hasn’t won the conference championship since 1997. The Gaels knocked off Gonzaga 89-85 in overtime earlier this month.
EWU Eagles
Tuesday: at Portland State, 7 p.m.
Outlook: With no games scheduled this week, Eastern is forced to wait and see whether its regular-season finale at Portland State will have any postseason implications. Idaho State plays Sacramento State (tonight) and at Northern Arizona (Saturday). If the Bengals win either of those two games, they will eliminate the seventh-place Eagles from the six-team BSC tournament.
Idaho Vandals
Today: at Hawaii, 9 p.m.
Saturday: at San Jose State, 7 p.m.
Outlook: These games provide the last opportunity for Idaho to end its conference road frustrations. The Vandals are 0-6 in league on the road this season and 0-14 the past two years. They’ve lost 25 straight conference games dating back to 2004-05, their last season in the Big West. In earlier home games, Idaho beat San Jose State 74-63 and lost to Hawaii 58-53.
