Nowitzki odd man out
San Antonio’s Tim Duncan is on the All-Star ballot as a center. But the Spurs complained and the NBA backed down, moving him to forward on Internet ballots. All votes cast for him will count at forward.
Duncan leads Western Conference forwards in the latest balloting. Denver’s Carmelo Anthony is second. Reigning league MVP Dirk Nowitzki is third.
If that order holds, Nowitzki won’t start in the All-Star Game, because the league was afraid the Chinese vote for Yao Ming would bump Duncan at center.
