Jones only has self to blame

The Spokesman-Review

It seems until steroid users get caught, they think it is OK to use the drugs.

Marion Jones said she should avoid prison because she has been cast from “American hero to national disgrace.”

Sorry, Jones, you did this to yourself the minute you decided to enhance your abilities by using steroids. No one is to blame but you, and you should answer for it.

Sports used to be America’s entertainment for the family. Now you almost want to turn the channel because regardless of the sport, someone is being busted for steroid use. They lie to federal investigators and they also believe they should go unpunished for violating the system.

As the saying goes, if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. It’s a shame a lot of good talent will be questioned because of a few bad apples. There are a lot of good athletes out there, but it is really tough trying to keep kids off drugs when all their heroes are using them.
