In an early matchup of the conference favorites, Utah State used a late 12-1 run to pull away from visiting New Mexico State 74-62 last Saturday. It was USU’s seventh win in a row. USU is the lone unbeaten WAC team at home (10-0). … USU senior guard Jaycee Carroll has 2,097 career points, 30 shy of the school record held by Greg Grant (1983-86). … Idaho junior Jordan Brooks had an unusual double-double for a point guard at Fresno State last Saturday. Brooks had 16 points to go with 16 rebounds. He has averaged 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds the last three games. … Idaho junior guard Mike Hall has 29 3-pointers in the last five games. He’s averaged 17.2 points during that span. … USU ranks first in the WAC in free-throw percentage (.785), 3-point field-goal percentage (.381), rebounding defense (29.9) and assists (18.0, tied with Boise State).
