Hasek leads Red Wings past Ducks

Dominik Hasek made 24 saves, and Brian Rafalski and Valtteri Filppula scored to lead the league-best Detroit Red Wings to a 2-1 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night at Anaheim, Calif.

Rafalski scored his ninth goal on a 30-foot slap shot in the opening period with the Red Wings’ holding a two-man advantage. Filppula added his 15th to pad the lead in the second.

Hasek lost his shutout when Chris Pronger scored on a power play with 11:55 remaining.

Maple Leafs 3, Capitals 2: Mats Sundin scored with 29.2 seconds left to give host Toronto a victory over Washington, a day after the Maple Leafs fired general manager John Ferguson and replaced him on an interim basis with Cliff Fletcher.

Canucks 3, Blues 2 (SO): At Vancouver, B.C., Daniel Sedin scored in the shootout to complete the Canucks’ first third-period comeback of the season in beating St. Louis.
