Vitus leads RiverHawks

WENATCHEE – A dominant Chris Vitus (5-0) gave up three hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking three to help the visiting Spokane RiverHawks to a 5-1 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Spokane (12-14) started the scoring in the second inning on an Owen Jones passed ball that scored Mark Purser from third. Rob Folsom added another run on a Conner Moore sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0. Moore was removed from the game later in the inning after attempting a head-first slide into home.

Wenatchee (16-6) notched its only run in the fourth inning with a Sean Montplaisir sacrifice fly that scored Jimmy Patterson.

The RiverHawks return home today to open a three-game series against the Bellingham Bells at Gonzaga’s Patterson Complex.
