Marlins 9, Reds 2: At Miami, Hanley Ramirez homered twice and Ryan Tucker pitched five effective innings to win in his major league debut, leading Florida past Cincinnati.

Giants 6, Nationals 3: At Washington, Barry Zito earned his second win of the season and Ray Durham finished with four hits, leading San Francisco past the Nationals.

Pirates 6, Diamondbacks 4: At Pittsburgh, Jason Bay’s two-run double finished off the Pirates’ five-run fourth inning and Pittsburgh shook off Mark Reynolds’ two home runs to beat Arizona for the first time in their weekend series.

Cardinals 5, Astros 4: At Houston, Brendan Ryan hit a two-run single, Kyle Lohse pitched six strong innings and St. Louis beat the Astros. The Cardinals have won all three series with their N.L. Central rivals this season and 10 of the last 14.

Phillies 6, Braves 3: At Atlanta, Ryan Howard drove in two runs in the ninth inning with his third double of the game and Philadelphia beat the Braves to complete a three-game sweep.

Brewers 3, Rockies 2: At Denver, Jeff Suppan and three relievers limited Colorado to six hits as Milwaukee held off the Rockies, breaking a six-game slide at Coors Field.

Padres 8, Mets 6: At San Diego, pinch-hitter Tony Clark connected for a go-ahead, three-run homer off Billy Wagner with two outs in the eighth inning to lift the Padres over New York for a four-game sweep.

Cubs 3, Dodgers 1: At Los Angeles, Jason Marquis took a two-hitter into the seventh inning and Chicago extended Brad Penny’s winless streak to seven starts with a victory over the Dodgers.
