Church fundraiser

Chattaroy Community Church, 3711 E. Chattaroy Road, will present a flea market, car show and 5K walk today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds to send underprivileged children to the Union Gospel Summer Camp.

The day also will include a bake sale, silent auction and live music provided by the Glory Band.

The church was able to send 24 kids to summer camp last year.

Dalai Lama documentary

The Center for Creative Living, 2825 E. 33rd Ave., will present the documentary “Dalai Lama Renaissance” today at 7 p.m.

The film follows 40 influential thinkers as they travel to meet the Dalai Lama. Harrison Ford narrates the film.

Conferences, workshops

•This year’s Inland Empire Catholic Charismatic Renewal conference continues today at St. Peter Catholic Church, 3520 E. 18th Ave.

The conference theme is “Walk in Him …” The Rev. Richard McAlear will speak at 9:30 and 11 a.m., and at a healing Mass at 7:30 p.m.

The conference is free. Anyone interested in attending can register at the door.

•The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., will present a mini-workshop and book-study group based on Colin Tipping’s “Getting to Heaven on a Harley, A Radical Karma Workbook,” Saturdays starting today through Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon, and Tuesdays starting next week through Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Vacation Bible school

Area churches continue to gear up for vacation Bible school classes:

•Northwood Presbyterian Church and Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St., will present the Power Lab vacation Bible school Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Kids ages 3 through those entering the sixth grade are invited to make crafts, have snacks, learn Bible stories, listen to music and participate in science experiments.

•Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway Ave., will host a session Monday through Friday at the church for children in grades K-6. “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power” is the theme of the event, which will be held daily from 9 a.m. to noon.

•Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave. in Spokane Valley, will host a “Power Lab” VBS on July 7 through 11 for kids age 4 through the sixth grade.

Classes will run from 9 to 11:45 a.m. daily. There will be games, snacks and a live band. T-shirts will be available for a suggested donation of $15.

The monthly meeting of the Christian Singles Fellowship is today at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of North Addison Baptist Church, 6120 N. Addison St.
