UCLA clinches title

Darren Collison scored off his miss for the go-ahead basket in overtime, helping No. 3 UCLA rally from a 14-point deficit to beat seventh-ranked Stanford 77-67 Thursday night at Los Angeles and clinch the Pac-10 title outright.

The Bruins won their third consecutive regular-season title on their home court for the first time in three years and put themselves in solid position to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Russell Westbrook added 19 points and Kevin Love had 17 points and 10 rebounds for his 19th double-double. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Brook Lopez had 18 points and 13 rebounds and his 7-foot twin, Robin, added 14 points for Stanford, which has lost five of its last six against the Bruins. Taj Finger scored 10 points.

Tied at 63 after regulation, the Bruins dominated overtime by outscoring the Cardinal 14-2. Brook Lopez scored Stanford’s only basket and Anthony Goods committed an intentional foul on Westbrook.

Mbah a Moute dunked off Collison’s pass to put UCLA up 65-63, its first lead since starting the game 2-0. From there, the Bruins rolled in front of 12,671 cheering fans.

UCLA forced OT when Collison hit a pair of free throws after driving to the basket with 2 ½ seconds left.

USC 93, California 89 (OT): At Los Angeles, freshman O.J. Mayo scored five of his 22 points in overtime, and the Trojans beat the Bears to take a big step toward earning a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Mayo also matched his career high with nine rebounds and added five assists for the Trojans, who blew a 10-point lead in the last 2 minutes of regulation before outscoring the Golden Bears 15-11 in the 5-minute overtime to clinch at least fourth place in the Pacific-10 Conference.

Taj Gibson and Dwight Lewis scored 21 points each for USC, which won for the fourth time in five games.

Oregon 67, Arizona St. 61: At Eugene, Ore., Malik Hairston scored 19 points and the Ducks hit eight free throws in the final minute and held on to beat the Sun Devils.

Tajuan Porter added 12 points and Maarty Leunen had 10 points and nine rebounds for Oregon.

Arizona State forward James Harden, who entered the game as the fourth-leading scorer in the Pac-10 at 17.9 points, was held to 12 points through the first 36:21 of the game before scoring 10 in the final 3:39.

Arizona 81, Oregon St. 45: At Corvallis, Ore., Jerryd Bayless scored 20 points, Chase Buddinger had 17 and the Wildcats beat the Beavers to strengthen their bid to make a 24th straight NCAA tournament.

Jordan Hill added 16 points and Nic Wise returned from a knee injury to score 15 for Arizona. Lathen Wallace had 11 points and Rickey Claitt had 10 to lead the Beavers, who lost their 19th straight.
