Duke gets past Maryland

Wanisha Smith scored 22 points Saturday and No. 12 Duke upset fifth-ranked Maryland 74-63 in the semifinals of the ACC tournament at Greensboro, N.C.

Joy Cheek added 16 points for the Blue Devils (23-8), who forced the Terrapins (30-3) into 19 turnovers.

(2) North Carolina 80 (25) Virginia 65: At Greensboro, N.C., Rashanda McCants had 23 points and the Tar Heels (29-2) beat the Cavaliers (23-9).

(3) Tennessee 63, (21) Vanderbilt 48: At Nashville, Tenn., Candace Parker scored 25 points to lead the Lady Vols (29-2) past the Commodores (23-8)

(6) Stanford 64, Oregon St. 41: At San Jose, Calif., Jayne Appel scored 19 points to lead the Cardinal (28-3) past the Beavers (11-19).

(7) LSU 66, Kentucky 49: At Nashville, Tenn., Sylvia Fowles had 20 points to help the Tigers (27-4) beat the Wildcats (15-15).

(10) California 67, Oregon 60: At San Jose, Calif., Natasha Vital had 14 points to lead the Bears (25-5) past the Ducks (14-17).
