Wildcats top Cougars

Three Cougars hit home runs but Kansas State (7-6) dropped visiting Washington State (10-3) 9-6 in a non-conference baseball game at Manhattan, Kan.

Paul Gran, Jim Murphy and Jared Prince each homered for WSU, but Kansas State’s Justin Bloxom and Carter Jurica each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the Wildcats never trailed.

•Gonzaga (8-5) scored two runs in each of the first three innings and downed the visiting Utah Utes (4-8) 10-5 at the Pepsi Johnny Quick Tournament in Fresno, Calif. Ryan Wiegand went 1 for 3 with a home run for the Bulldogs.

Golf

The Gonzaga women won the UCSC Spring Invite in Santa Cruz, Calif. GU’s Sage Suffecool won with an 11-over-par 155 at the Pasatiempo Golf Course.

•Idaho’s men placed 17th at the Fresno (Calif.) State Lexus Golf Classic. Ben Weyland and Brad Tensen shot 2-over 218s and finished tied for 43rd for the Vandals.
