Guards

Scoring is secondary for junior Kristi Toliver as she proved in a Saturday win over Vanderbilt. She didn’t put up a shot until the closing moments of the first half, but the Terrapins held a 15-point lead. And, if needed, Toliver can fill it up as her 16.8 average would suggest. After struggling in her first two NCAA games, 6-foot freshman Marah Strickland had the key baskets in the first half when the Terps broke away.

Forwards, centers

The Terrapins aren’t just big on the front line with seniors Crystal Langhorne, 6-2, and Laura Harper, 6-4, and junior Marissa Coleman, 6-1. They’re also quick with great leaping ability. The trio combines for more than 47 points and 25 rebounds. Each is dangerous with career highs of 24 to 27 points and 15 to 22 rebounds.

Bench

Several players have had moments off the bench but as coach Brenda Frese pointed out, as long as foul trouble doesn’t enter in, television timeouts give the starters plenty of rest. The Terps had one point from a reserve among the 80 scored against Vanderbilt.
