Leadman race worth a look

The Leadman Triathlon starting on top of Silver Mountain last Saturday was rife with mud, sweat and skiers as 64 individuals plus 25 teams plunged down the mountain on skis and mountain bikes before finishing in a foot race through the valley below.

Stephen Barbieri of Spokane was the top male in 53:21. Kristen Armstrong of Spokane led the women in 1:04:50.

The gravity-challenging field included seven racers older than 60 and four 15 or younger.
