Pullman takes GNL control

Peterson throws for two scores in win over Deer Park

Cody Peterson didn’t throw often Friday night, but when he did, he was remarkably accurate.

Pullman’s quarterback completed 6 of 9 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in leading the visiting Greyhounds to a 35-0 Great Northern League rout of Deer Park.

The win gave Pullman (7-2 overall, 5-1 in the GNL) sole possession of first place in the league standings, while Deer Park (7-2, 4-2) slipped a game back in second.

Cheney 19, Clarkston 14: The visiting Blackhawks (6-3, 4-2) used touchdown receptions from Mike Sprengler and Drew Ableman and a pair of field goals from Max Harris to turn back the Bantams (3-6, 3-3).

West Valley 40, Medical Lake 7: Eric Critelli picked off two passes and returned one 55 yards for a touchdown to lead the Eagles (6-3, 3-3) past the Cardinals (1-7, 1-5).

Colville 33, Riverside 7: Kjell Perry carried 14 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns and Dustin Divis added a pair of short scoring runs as the Indians (6-3, 4-2) upended the Rams (2-7, 0-6).

Northeast 2B

Republic 10, Davenport 8: Scotty Bacon ran for 138 yards and scored his team’s only touchdown on a 2-yard run as the Tigers (3-4, 3-3) sloshed past the visiting Gorillas (2-5, 1-4) in the rain and mud.

Colfax 41, Lind-Ritzville 14: Ethan Smith scampered for 100 yards and three touchdowns and Kellen Morgan raced 101 yards with a recovered fumble for one of his two scores as the visiting Bulldogs (8-0, 5-0) maintained a share of the league lead by leveling the Broncos (4-3, 3-2).

Reardan 2, Selkirk 0 (forfeit): Selkirk (1-7, 0-5) was forced to forfeit for the second week in row because of lack of players, allowing Reardan (7-1, 5-0) to retain a share of the league lead.

Southeast 2B

Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 12, Garfield-Palouse 8: The Nighthawks (2-5, 2-4) used a 27-yard scoring pass from Joseph Tampien and Zach St. John’s 1-yard TD plunge to turn back the visiting Vikings (6-2, 4-2).

Asotin 34, DeSales 0: Creighton Alford threw five TD passes as the Panthers (8-1, 6-0) took over first place by blanking the host Irish (6-3, 5-1) at Walla Walla.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 46, Sprague-Harrington 0: Grayson Sizemore carried only three times, but gained 126 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Warriors (7-2, 6-1) on their romp past the visiting Falcons (0-9, 0-9).

Cusick 38, Columbia 18: The league-leading Panthers (9-0, 9-0) used Spencer Shanholtzer’s 95-yard interception return and Dustin Villegas’ four touchdowns – one of which came on a 43-yard pass from Shanholtzer – to roll past the visiting Lions (6-3, 6-3).

Wilbur-Creston 62, Waterville 30: Cody Stephens rushed for a school-record 390 yards and five touchdowns as the visiting Wildcats (4-5, 3-5) thumped the Shockers (3-5, 1-2).

Odessa 58, Pateros 22: Ryan King rushed for three touchdowns and returned a kickoff 90 yards for another as the Tigers (7-1, 7-1) turned back the visiting Billygoats (3-6, 3-5).

Inchelium 58, Wellpinit 14: Dylan Wulff paced the Hornets (6-3, 6-3) by rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns in their win over the visiting Redskins (1-8, 1-7).

Southeast 1B

Tri-Cities Prep 40, Colton/Pullman Christian 26: The visiting Jaguars (7-1, 3-1) picked up the win despite an outstanding effort by Sam Robertson, who rambled for 380 yards and four touchdowns for the Wildcats (4-5, 1-4).

LaCrosse-Washtucna 60, St. John-Endicott 6: Garrett Blauert caught three TD passes from Justin Aune and ran for three more scores in propelling the league-leading Tigercats (8-0, 4-0) past the visiting Eagles (0-9, 0-5).

Inland Empire

Post Falls 17, Coeur d’Alene 13: The Trojans (4-5, 1-2) used a 28-yard scoring pass from Nikk Reinhardt to Brett Winn and a 3-yard scoring run by Jered Kennedy to slip past the visiting Vikings (3-6, 0-3).

Lakeland 38, Sandpoint 28: Kyle McCrite ran 70 yards for one touchdown and returned a kickoff 80 for another in leading the Hawks (2-7, 1-1) past visiting Sandpoint (4-5, 1-1) at Rathdrum.

Lakeland’s victory created a three-way tie with Moscow (6-2, 1-1) and Sandpoint among the league’s 4A teams in the IEL standings.

The league’s representative to the 4A state playoffs will be determined by a Kansas Tiebreaker at Coeur d’Alene on Monday at 7 p.m.

Intermountain

Timberlake 21, Priest River 6: The second-seeded Tigers (5-4, 4-1) used touchdown runs from Derek Puckett and John Morris and a 20-yard scoring pass from Brian Maldonado to turn back the third-seeded Spartans (5-4, 3-2) in the opening round of the league playoffs.

The win earned the Tigers a berth in the state playoffs. Priest River, which got a 4-yard touchdown run from Brian Nelson, saw its season come to an end.

Orofino 35, Kellogg 0: The top-seeded Maniacs (6-3, 4-1) earned the league’s second state playoff berth by blanking the visiting Wildcats (3-6, 2-3).

Michael Welch ran for two touchdowns and threw for two others.

North Star

Kootenai 64, Wallace 14: The visiting Warriors (9-0, 8-0) remained unbeaten and increased its league lead to two games with is win over the second-place Miners (6-2, 6-2).

Non-league

Liberty JV 22, Springdale 8: George Canning ran 40 yards for one touchdown and rambled 60 yards with a fumble recovery for another as the Lancers dropped the visiting Chargers (3-6).
