Colfax captures State 2B opener
Alex Teade ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and Colfax opened the State 2B playoffs with a 42-14 blitz of visiting Kittitas on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (10-0) advance to quarterfinal action next week against DeSales, a 27-10 winner over previously undefeated La Salle.
Teade got Colfax off to a 6-0 lead on a 50-yard touchdown pass to Will Hatley, and Kellen Morgan’s 25-yard return of a blocked punt made it 14-0 in the second quarter before Kittitas scored on a Spencer Slyfield 2-yard run. Teade then had touchdown runs of 1 and 7 yards in the third quarter and Ethan Smith, who rushed for 78 yards, added two more in the fourth.
Teade completed 7 of 12 passes for 121 yards, while Joe Cammack rushed for 100 yards on 20 carries for Colfax.
Also in the 2B first round, Asotin (10-1) got touchdowns from seven different players in a 60-17 romp over visiting Reardan.
Chace Bell scored on runs of 67 and 61 yards for the Indians, who finished 7-3, and Vladyslav Stefaniv booted a 40-yard field goal.
•Ryan King passed for 234 yards and three touchdowns and Odessa held off a Touchet rally in the second half for a 36-30 victory in the State 1B qualifying round in Odessa.
King had scoring strikes of 38, 62 and 6 yards in the first half as the Tigers rolled up a 36-6 lead. Touchet inched back on touchdown runs of 15 and 11 yards by Taylor Gregg, and a 45-yard interception return.
The Tigers (9-1) will play Friday on the road against LaCrosse-Washtucna (10-0), which eliminated Columbia 44-14 behind the three touchdowns and 225 yards rushing of Garrett Blauert.
The Tigercats also received a fine passing performance from Justin Aune, who completed 8 of 10 passes for 161 yards and four touchdowns.
In another 1B qualifying game, Cusick ran its record to 11-0 with a 62-12 pasting of visiting Inchelium (6-5) behind the four touchdowns of Dustin Villegas.
Villegas had touchdown runs of 65 and 10 yards among his 112 yards rushing, and added punt return scores of 30 and 40 yards. Teammate Spencer Shanholtzer completed 4 of 8 passes for 77 yards and two TDs, and returned an interception 30 yards for another score.
The Panthers will meet either Tri-Cities Prep or Almira/Coulee-Hartline in the first round.
Idaho
Drew McConnell rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns to power Eagle to a 49-26 victory over Lewiston in the Idaho 5A semifinals in Eagle.
Lewiston, which suffered its first loss after 10 victories, got a pair of touchdown passes from Justin Podrabsky, who threw for 312 yards and rushed for another score.
