A look back at ‘Chicago 10’ trial

By MIKE HUGHES Gannett News Service

Tonight’s must-see

PBS’ “Independent Lens: Chicago 10,” 9-11 p.m., KCDT, KSPS and KUID.

Maybe there was no straight-ahead way to portray the 1968 Democratic convention protests and the “Chicago 10” trial that followed.

It was a time of chaos, joy, hatred, laughter, tear gas and billyclubs. The chaos became a strategy – protest as street theater. And the trial that followed added to that story.

“Stylista” debut, 9 p.m., CW. Yes, this is another “Apprentice” copy. Anne Slowey, an Elle editor, will choose one person to be a junior editor.

“High School Musical” (2006), 8 p.m., Disney Channel. This bouncy, buoyant movie reruns tonight, with its sequel on Thursday. The third one reaches theaters Friday.

“Private Practice,” 9 p.m., ABC. As Sam worries about keeping the clinic afloat financially, Addison keeps being recruited for a hospital job.

“Sons of Anarchy,” 10 p.m., FX. Two familiar guest stars have a fierce effect on tonight’s story. Mitch Pileggi (Skinner in “The X-Files”) stirs up the war between motorcycle gangs; Jay Karnes (Dutch in “The Shield”) continues his obsession with Tara. Both lead to tense, explosive situations,
