Paris just a poor little rich girl

Paris Hilton (Associated Press / The Spokesman-Review)

The word Tuesday night from the Toronto International Film Festival was shocking:

Paris Hilton, it seems, is misunderstood.

Director Adria Petty accompanied her documentary, a bio of the celebrity socialite titled “Paris, Not France,” to its Tuesday premiere. Petty shot interviews with Hilton’s parents, sister Nicky, publicist Elliott Mintz and such personalities as Donald Trump.

“Paris, Not France” follows Hilton on business meetings, a promotional trip to Japan and such everyday tasks as getting a burger at a drive-thru while dozens of photographers take shots of her ordering.. “I’m basically being judged, and they’re creating this false person, and I can’t do anything about it,” Hilton says in the film.

“It’s amazing that this woman is a human being and that people actually can be ruthless enough to forget that,” said Petty, daughter of rocker Tom Petty.

Oasis no real resting place

British band Oasis postponed its concert in London, Ontario, after a fan attacked guitarist Noel Gallagher. Gallagher was injured Sunday after Daniel Sullivan, 47, ran onto the stage during a performance in Toronto. The guitarist was pushed from behind and fell, injuring his ribs and hip.

Pickering has been charged with assault. The Ontario show has been rescheduled for Dec. 15. The band’s next performance is set for Friday in New York

Hubby follows Madonna lead

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie already celebrated a milestone birthday this year: wife Madonna’s 50th. So the filmmaker wasn’t thinking much about his own milestone birthday on Wednesday. “I’ve thought less about my 40th birthday than almost any other birthday,” said Ritchie, who was in Toronto to promote his new film “RocknRolla,” which opens Oct. 8. Ritchie still wants gifts though: “Just lots of accolade and money.”

THIS fight wasn’t fake

Chapel Hill, N.C., police didn’t find anything fake about the blood and bruises on former professional wrestler Ric Flair after a fight with his daughter’s 22-year-old boyfriend. Neither man was charged, but Flair’s daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr, was charged for resisting police after the 22-year-old became belligerent and kicked an officer, Chapel Hill police Lt. Kevin Gunter said Tuesday.

Ramsey dad STILL not guilty

On Wednesday’s “Oprah Winfrey Show,” John Ramsey said he forgave the news media for the “cyberspace lynching” he and his wife endured following the 1996 killing of their 6-year-old daughter, JonBenet. He said he considers new DNA tests that point to an outsider to be progress in the case.

The interview is Ramsey’s first national TV appearance since prosecutors cleared his family in July. Patsy Ramsey died of cancer in 2006.
