Free public reception

A free public reception will be held at the Jundt Art Museum Thursday, from 6-7:15 p.m., for two concurrent art shows.

The first is an exhibition of selected Fritz Scholder lithographs from the private collection of John Morey Maurice.

Scholder once said, “The American Indian artist must step out of the arena of curios into the world of fine objects and expressive painting.” His controversial “real Indian” paintings and his lauded portrayals of the contemporary Native American experience influenced a generation.

A free public lecture follows the reception in the Jundt Auditorium titled “Remembering Collaboration: Tamarind Institute & Fritz Scholder.” Seating is limited.

Contemporary Ceramics: Kolva/Sullivan Collection

The Jundt is also displaying selected contemporary ceramic works from the extensive collection of Jim Kolva and Pat Sullivan, including pieces from some of the medium’s most influential artists.

Featured ceramicists include Dan Anderson, Chris Antemann, Ruth Duckworth, Margaret Gregg, Beth Cavener Stichter, Chris Kelsey, Marilyn Lysohir and Mardis Nenno.

A free public lecture will be held on October 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jundt Lecture Hall, presented by Steve Young Lee, Resident Artist Director, The Archie Bray Foundation. Seating is limited.

The Jundt Art Museum is located at 502 E. Boone Ave. on the Gonzaga University campus.
