Penalties imposed on two care facilities

Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services has taken action against two Spokane home-based care facilities, due to “numerous violations that jeopardized the safety and well-being of residents.”

La Casa Marchese, an adult family home at 5405 N. Belt St., had its license revoked after violations that included missing narcotics, lack of caregiver background checks and failure to treat residents with care and respect. The home is licensed to Joseph Marchese.

The state also stopped admissions to Memory Lane Home, 1724 W. 9th Ave. The home was cited for failing to keep kitchen and bathrooms clean and for lack of mental-health training and background checks for caregivers.
