NATIONAL FORESTS
Meeting on Lochsa swap
Clearwater National Forest officials will discuss a proposed land exchange in the upper Lochsa River area Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at the Job Service Conference Room, 1350 Troy Road., in Moscow.
Western Pacific Timber officials also will be on hand.
The proposal involves exchanging up to 28,000 acres of scattered parcels of national forest for 40,000 acres of private WPT lands in the Lochsa headwaters.
The deal seeks to block up lands currently in checkerboard ownership. However, some former Forest Service officials have taken a stand against the exchange.

BOATING/FISHING
Reservoirs ready for runoff
Dam operators must make room for spring runoff in the region’s major reservoirs, but timing differs.
Lake Roosevelt still has high levels, holding perhaps through this week at about 1,281 feet before dropping and leaving some boat ramps unuseable.

Dworshak Reservoir discharges into the Clearwater River were increased last week to about 10,100 cfs. Lake level is dropping.
