Wildcats rally past Rogers
Mt. Spokane scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on two wild pitches and a double steal to pull out a 4-3 Greater Spokane baseball victory Saturday in a game played at Rogers due to poor field conditions.
Rogers starter Jake Partridge struck out 12 Wildcats over four innings before giving way to Jake Campbell. The Pirates took a 3-1 lead before Mt. Spokane opened its rally with a Nate Blackham single and a Ryne Leonard double.
Leonard picked up the victory, scattering 11 hits for the Wildcats (3-3). Rogers fell to 0-6.
•Also in the GSL: Two other games were postponed by unplayable conditions. Shadle Park will play at Mead and University vs. host Lewis and Clark at Hart Field on Monday, both at 4 p.m.
•Great Northern League: Reggie Fuller hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to give Clarkston (4-1, 2-1) a 5-2 victory over visiting Cheney in the first game of their doubleheader. The Blackhawks (4-1, 2-1) bounced back with a five-run fifth inning in an 11-0 romp in the second game, fueled by two hit batters and four Clarkston errors. … P.J. Sager had seven hits including a two-run homer and Blake Sjordal’s grand slam highlighted a six-hit day as Colville (3-1, 2-1) blasted host Riverside (1-4, 0-4) 10-0 and 30-1. Indians leadoff hitter Tristan Fox scored his first five times up in the second game.
Softball
Great Northern League: Alison Holst threw a no-hitter, striking out seven, in a 21-1 Colville romp over host Riverside, capping a doubleheader sweep that began with a 13-3 win. Holst added two hits in her effort for the Indians (4-1, 2-0), who got four hits from Mo Stuart. In the first game, Riverside (0-3, 0-2) lost pitcher Jolene Millspaugh to a broken toe after she’d rapped out three hits. Lane Thayer and Jessica Ebel each had three RBIs for Colville in the opener. … At Clarkston, Riley Swanson had a two-run double and was the winning pitcher twice as the Bantams (3-1, 2-0) won 9-0 and 7-2 over Cheney. Ashley Blank had three RBIs in the first game as the Bantams rode a seven-run third inning. In the second game, Swanson struck out eight and Emma Sandaine had two hits to make her 4 for 7 on the day. … Pullman’s doubleheader at West Valley was postponed because of poor conditions and rescheduled for Monday at 2 p.m.
Boys soccer
Great Northern League: Pullman scored three goals in the first 7 minutes – two by Adam Verrell – and coasted to a 3-0 victory at Colville. The Greyhounds (2-2, 2-1) also got a pair of assists from Keven Spangenberg. The Indians fell to 0-3, 0-3.
