Kelowna stops Hawks
Eddie Hsieh drove in three runs, including a two-run single during a four-run fifth inning, as the Kelowna Falcons defeated the Spokane RiverHawks 6-4 in West Coast League play at Gonzaga University’s Patterson Baseball Complex on Friday.
Jason Brunansky went 3 for 5 and Brian Winston had three RBIs for Spokane (18-23), which fell behind Kelowna (18-21) in the race for the East Division’s second and final playoff spot.
The teams meet today for a doubleheader.
Golf
Colbert’s Sierra Bezdicek finished third in the 12-13 girls division at the 33rd Washington Junior Golf Association State Championships at Glendale Country Club in Bellevue, Wash.
Bezdicek finished with a 1-under-par 71 to finish at 11-over 227, four shots behind winner Cherokee Kim of Dupont.
Clarkston’s Michael Baldeck placed fourth among 12-13 boys, finishing 10 shots off the pace at 227. Tyler Carlson, also from Clarkston, placed seventh in 14-15 boys at 225.
•Clarkston’s Joel Dahmen finished tied for 13th at the 43rd Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at The Gallery Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
Dahmen fired a final-round 3-under 69 to finish at 279, eight shots behind champion Chan Kim of Chandler, Ariz.
