Bluff guides Cusick past St. George’s

Louie Bluff scored 16 points to propel the visiting Cusick Panthers to a 37-34 victory over the St. George’s Dragons in Panorama League boys basketball action Wednesday night.

Jordan Dickson netted a game-high 19 points for the Dragons (4-4, 3-2), who shot just 22 percent from the floor for the game.

Cusick (6-2, 3-0) trailed 14-8 after the first quarter, but held St. George’s to two second-quarter points to take a 19-16 lead at halftime. The Panthers shot 36 percent from the floor.

Girls basketball

Chessey Thomas tossed in a game-high 17 points and Lizzie McQuade led all rebounders with 11 to help guide the St. George’s Dragons to a 50-32 victory over the Cusick Panthers in Panorama League play at St. George’s.

Alicia Burns added 16 points for the Dragons (7-1, 5-0).

Andrea Heinen scored 14 to pace the Panthers (1-6, 0-3).

College football

Four Eastern Washington Eagles were named to The Sports Network’s NCAA Football Championship Subdivision All-America Football Team.

Junior linebacker J.C. Sherritt earned first-team honors. Senior quarterback Matt Nichols earned second-team honors. Sophomore running back Taiwan Jones and senior tight end Nathan Overbay snagged third-team honors. It was the first time Overbay was named to an All-America team this postseason.
