To Morrow, a new day

On the eve of being traded last week, a reflective Brandon Morrow said he would miss Seattle. Morrow, traded Wednesday to Toronto for relief pitcher Brandon League and a minor leaguer, expressed gratitude toward the Mariners for drafting him in the first round in 2006 and giving him an early shot at the big leagues, though he wishes what came next had gone somewhat differently. “I was never really allowed to develop as a starter the way I and a lot of other people thought I should be allowed to,” Morrow said. “Hopefully, this new chance means I get to develop as a starter more. Changing roles has just been detrimental to me.”
