At a glance: Idaho Vandals
Thu., Feb. 12, 2009
RECORD: 10-12 overall, 4-5 WAC
COMING UP: Today vs. Utah State, 7:05; Saturday vs. San Jose State, 7:05
OUTLOOK: Idaho seems to have taken a step back after a promising start to the WAC season under Don Verlin. It will be a major chore to stop a two-game losing skid tonight. No. 21 Utah State (23-1) hasn’t fallen since Dec. 6, when it lost 68-63 to BYU. Gary Wilkinson, a 6-foot-9 senior, leads the Aggies in scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 per game). He and fellow post Tai Wesley are shooting higher than 60 percent from the field. The Vandals are eighth in rebounding margin in conference games. “Our biggest weakness is rebounding and they are a very good rebounding team,” Verlin said. “We have to hold our own on the boards.”
