Women not respected

The Spokesman-Review

When I go to sports events, I see a basketball game, a soccer game, a football game, and more, but what I don’t see out there are females.

I hear about great athletes such as Adam Morrison, Michael Jordan or Peyton Manning. Although these are amazing athletes to watch, they all have something in common. They are all males.

Why do female athletes get less respect in life? Why do people never brag about what a great game Tamika Catchings had? Or what an amazing goal Julie Foudy had?

People around the (school) halls ask things such as, “Are you going to the varsity game tonight?” Everyone automatically assumes the boys varsity games. Females deserve the same attention and respect. Females are amazing athletes and have come far over time.

I disagree with our mind-sets that males are better and more athletic. Females are just as talented and work just as hard to get where they are. I believe we females deserve more appreciation.
