Tigers upset Bullpups

And then there were none.

The Lewis and Clark boys basketball team handed Greater Spokane League-leading Gonzaga Prep its first loss Saturday afternoon when Sage Poland drove the length of the floor with 5 seconds left before he drilled a 15-foot jumper at the buzzer for a 49-48 decision at G-Prep.

LC (4-6) scored on six of 12 possessions in the fourth quarter as the Tigers rallied from a 40-36 deficit. LC committed no turnovers in the final period.

The possibility of an upset was set up with 9 seconds remaining when Taylor Eglet made a 3-pointer. G-Prep (9-1) proceeded to miss a front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity before Poland’s big shot.

Levi Taylor and Austin Ehlo led LC with 16 points each. Sean Fisher and Ryan Nicholas led the Bullpups with 15 and 12, respectively.

Mead 66, Ferris 65: Ryane LaForte made two free throws in the final minute as the host Panthers posted their first win over the Saxons since 2003.

Grant Fink made 9 of 18 shots from the field – including 5 of 10 3-point attempts – to led Mead (5-4) with 25 points. Fink and Erik Hansen each had six rebounds and teammate Brendon Myers had nine assists. Justin Stewart led Ferris (4-5) with 15 points.

East Valley 52, University 38: Ronnie Jarvis led the visiting Knights (2-9) to victory with 17 points. Austin Zurfluh added seven rebounds and two blocks. Curt Smith led the Titans (2-9) with 12 points.

Great Northern League

Pullman 65, Deer Park 44: The Greyhounds placed four players in double-figure scoring as they handled the visiting Stags.

Jaron Hodge and Jaime Fertakis each scored 14 points for Pullman (6-3, 3-0). Hodge also had 11 rebounds. Nate Swanger chipped in 10 steals and eight assists. Dan Hutchinson led DP (1-7, 0-2) with 12 points.

Clarkston 70, Colville 55: The visiting Bantams (3-3, 1-0) forced 26 turnovers, 15 in the first half, as they cruised. Cody Brown led the winners with 18 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Dustin McConnell added 12 points and 10 assists. Michael Prouty led the Indians (3-4, 0-1) with 16 points.

Panorama League

Springdale 59, Curlew 44: Sam Howard scored 21 points to lead the Chargers (5-4, 1-1) past the Panthers (7-4, 4-3) at Curlew. Ethan Mannick led Curlew with 18.

Northport 62, St. Michael’s 59: Marsailles DeAguero had 21 points, 10 in the fourth quarter, to lead the visiting Mustangs (1-6, 1-3) past the Warriors (1-4, 1-2). John Drass led St. Michael’s with 16 points and 15 rebounds and Michael Ochoa had 17 points and 11 assists.

Wellpinit 81, Columbia (Hunters) 39: The Fletts – Cody and Billy – combined for 35 points and 23 rebounds to lead the Redskins (7-0, 5-0) past the Lions (2-5, 1-3) at Hunters.

Cusick 68, Inchelium 50: Spencer Shanholtzer had 16 points to lead the Panthers (9-1, 6-1) over the Hornets (2-6, 1-4) at Cusick. Brandon Kohler had a game-high 25 points for Cusick.

St. George’s 71, Republic 44: Britton Stamper led the Dragons (3-4, 2-0) with 19 points in the win at Republic. Justin Wilson led the Tigers (1-8, 0-5) with 17.

Northeast A League

Freeman 65, Kettle Falls 39: Chris Miller had 17 points to lead the Scotties (10-1, 2-0) over the host Bulldogs (2-7, 0-1). Shelby Hite led the Bulldogs with 12 points, four rebounds and four blocked shots.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 54, Chewelah 46: The Eagles (6-6, 1-0) opened on a 9-0 run and never looked back at Chewelah. Stryker Smith led the Cougars (9-3, 0-1) with 17 points.

Bi-County League 2B

Northwest Christian 72, Valley Christian 28: Chas Ramehy had 17 points as the Crusaders (8-0, 3-0) cruised at home. Matt Hemmer led the Panthers (1-6, 0-3) with eight.

Davenport 73, Lind-Ritzville 67: Jarod Gunning had 26 points to lead the Gorillas (6-1, 3-1) at home. Jamie Stevenson led the Broncos (4-3, 1-2) with 22.

Colfax 42, Liberty 38: Tanner Gay had 15 points to lead the visiting Bulldogs (5-3, 3-1). Ross Collins led the Lancers (3-5, 0-2) with 10.

Bi-County League 1B

Wilbur-Creston 42, Odessa 33: Austin Snavely had 12 points, 15 rebounds, seven blocks and three steals to lead the Wildcats (4-3, 2-0) over the visiting Tigers (2-5, 0-2).

District 9 North

St. John-Endicott 59, Rosalia 50: Wyatt Sitton and Warren Miller led the Eagles (5-2, 3-1) with 20 and 16 points, respectively, in the victory at Rosalia. Jim Maley led the Spartans (5-6, 1-4) with 13.

Caribou Trail League

Lake Roosevelt 54, Cascade 44: Cade Egbert and Jake Fury had 13 points each to lead the victorious Raiders over the visiting Kodiaks at Coulee Dam.

Non-league

Moscow 38, Lakeland 36: The Hawks’ fourth-quarter rally came up short as the visiting Bears (4-3) escaped. Jake Helbling led Moscow with a game-high 17 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Cody Moreland, who led Lakeland (2-6) with nine points, missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Tri-Cities Prep 31, LaCrosse-Washtucna 25: Antonio Ledesma led the Jaguars with 10 points in a win over the visiting Tigercats (1-3).

Reardan 51, Sprague-Harrington 21: The Indians (3-6) used 20 steals to stop the host Falcons (1-6).

Tekoa-Oakesdale 58, Waitsburg-Prescott 50: Brandon Hovde led the host Nighthawks (4-2) with 20 points and nine rebounds.
