Shadle boys roll past NC

Shadle Park used balanced scoring and controlled the boards to ease past North Central 63-46 in a Greater Spokane League boys basketball makeup game on Monday.

Anthony Brown led all scorers with 15 points, including a 3-pointer at the close of the first half that gave the Highlanders a 31-20 halftime lead.

The Highlanders also got double-figure scoring from three others and enjoyed a 40-23 rebounding edge in the game.

Nathan Pelton and Darwin Nelson each scored 11 for NC.

Northwest Christian 79, Sprague-Harrington 21: The Crusaders got scoring from nine players, including three in double figures led by Daniel Kuiper’s 14 points, in the non-league road win in the boys makeup game.

Lind-Ritzville 50, Reardan 31: Cory Whitmore’s dominating play inside that helped produce 18 points led the Broncos to the Bi-County 2B win in the boys makeup game at Reardan.

Grant Schultz hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 for Reardan.

Girls basketball

Shadle Park 43, North Central 20: The Highlanders used balanced scoring – Bianca Pope’s 12 points led eight scorers – and capitalized on 30 Indians turnovers for the road win in the GSL makeup game.

Tara Van Weerdhuizen led NC with eight points.

Lind-Ritzville 50, Reardan 17: At Reardan, a stingy defense that forced 24 turnovers led the Broncos to victory in the Bi-County League 2B makeup.

Kelsey Arlt led Lind-Ritzville with 14 points, including a 3-pointer in a 10-0 run in the third quarter.

Northwest Christian 63, Sprague-Harrington 51: The Crusaders opened the non-league makeup game with a 9-0 run, and after a bump in the road in the third quarter, managed to get past Falcons.

Bryanna Bailey and Colbi Neal led the Crusaders with 16 points apiece. Sprague-Harrington’s Justyne Talkington had 17 points and four assists.

Wrestling

Damian Long had two 16-1 technical fall victories to lead Mt. Spokane to a pair of wins in Greater Spokane League makeup matches on its home mats.

Long beat Paul Wiltse of Rogers in a 58-12 decision over the Pirates and defeated John Chastek of Lewis and Clark as the Wildcats won 49-18.

Great Northern League: Shawn Burton jumped to a 9-0 lead in a match against Brandon Mosely that saw each on their back once en route to a 14-4 major decision at 285 pounds to lead Deer Park’s 49-19 win over visiting Cheney.

GSL gymnastics

Alana Norman of Shadle Park won three events, was second in the fourth and claimed all-around honors with 35.45 points to lead the Highlanders to victory in a six-school makeup meet at Rogers.

Lakeside’s Anande Egland had four top-three finishes and was second in the all-around at 33.
