Independence Day holiday will affect services

Government offices and other services will be affected Friday and Saturday by the Independence Day holiday: Banks: Most banks will be closed Saturday. Some banks will be open Friday, and some grocery store branches will be open Saturday. Buses: Bus routes will operate on their regular schedules Friday, and on Sunday/holiday schedules Saturday. Garbage: Collection will be normal this week in Spokane and all areas served by Waste Management Services. Garbage facilities and transfer stations will be closed Saturday. Government: City, county, state and federal offices will be closed Friday. Spokane County commissioners will not meet Tuesday. City swimming pools and golf courses will be open all weekend. Libraries: In the Spokane area, all city and county branches will be open Friday and closed Saturday. The Coeur d’Alene library will be closed both days. Liquor stores: All stores in Washington and Idaho will be open Friday and Saturday. Mail: No mail service Saturday. Post offices will be open on Friday, but many will close at noon. Parking meters: Meters in downtown Spokane are free Friday and Saturday. Grocery stores and shopping malls: Most, but not all, will be open regular hours all weekend.
