NIC splits during first day

Second-seeded Southern Idaho (46-15-2) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to rally for a 7-6 win over third-seeded North Idaho in the Scenic West Athletic Conference softball tournament at Salt Lake City.

The Cardinals advanced to the quarterfinal with a 16-3 win over sixth-seeded Western Nevada (10-39), banging out 16 hits. NIC (37-22) faces fifth-seeded Snow College (17-32) in a loser-out game this morning.

Pac-10: Danielle Lawrie scattered three hits and struck out 10 as fourth-ranked Washington (40-9, 13-6) kept its conference title hopes alive with a 7-0 win over Stanford (44-7, 13-6) in Seattle.
