Whits’ run ends
Fifth-ranked Dominican used two goals in a 10-minute span of the second half to defeat Whitworth 2-0 on Sunday in Dubuque, Iowa, ending the Pirates’ season in the section final of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament.
Brian Sherpe made two saves for 15th-ranked Whitworth (16-3-3), which was outshot 13-6 by Dominican, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal.
Women’s basketball
Freshman guard KiKi Moore scored 13 points to lead the Cougars in scoring all three games this season, but it wasn’t enough as Nebraska beat Washington State (1-2) 107-54 in Lincoln, Neb.
•Idaho got off to a cold start and couldn’t recover in a 70-58 loss to Montana State in Moscow. Rachele Kloke recorded game highs with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Vandals (0-3).
•Andrea DePaolo scored 18 points as Community Colleges of Spokane (1-1) beat Shoreline Community College 82-42 in Shoreline, Wash.
Junior hockey
Castlegar got goals from seven players in an 8-3 win over the Spokane Braves in Castlegar, British Columbia. Nick Redding scored twice and Josef Chase added a goal for the Braves.
Cross country
Washington’s high school runners dominated the 11th annual Nike Border Clash against Oregon runners in Beaverton, Ore.
In the boys race, Washington runners swept the first 10 spots and won the team event with a perfect score of 15 to Oregon’s 50. Mt. Spokane’s Allan Schroeder finished fourth, Mead’s Andrew Gardner finished seventh, Ferris’ Tim Colliton finished eighth and North Central’s Casey Adams finished 10th.
Washington girls took 15 of the top 16 spots and won the meet 19 to 44. North Central’s Katie Knight was fourth and Colfax’s Morgan Willson was 10th.
