Husky 2nd in NCAAs
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The No. 1-ranked Washington Huskies used a second-place finish by Kendra Schaaf to take third place at the NCAA cross country championships Monday.
Villanova won its eighth national title and its first since 1998. Florida State was second. Illinois’ Angela Bizzarri won the individual title in 19 minutes, 46.8 seconds for 6,000 meters. Washington State’s lone entrant, senior Lisa Egami, finished 169th.
Oklahoma State won its second men’s title. Oregon was second, Alabama third and favored Stanford finished 10th. The UW men were 18th.
Liberty’s Samuel Chelanga won the men’s title, covering 10,000 meters in 28:41.3.
