Cougars fall in four to UO
Heather Meyers and Sonja Newcombe combined for 35 kills to lead the No. 18 Oregon volleyball team (18-9, 8-9) to a 25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20 win over host Washington State (17-12, 5-12) on Wednesday night at Bohler Gym.
Oregon’s Neticia Enesi added 13 more kills, hitting .611, and nine blocks to the Ducks’ totals. Five players had double-digit digs for Oregon with Kellie Kawasaki’s 17 leading the way.
The Ducks hit .240 for the match and had 12 team blocks compated to WSU’s seven blocks.
Washington State sophomore Meagan Ganzer equaled her career high of 20 kills and Brittany Tillman had 10 kills and hit .381 on the night. The Cougars hit .127.
WSU ends the regular season on Friday at 7 p.m. against visiting Oregon State.
•The fourth-ranked Washington Huskies (23-4, 13-4) scored a 25-21, 25-23, 25-16 win over visiting Oregon State (12-17, 3-4).
The Huskies, tied with Stanford atop the Pac-10, are host to Oregon Friday in a regular-season finale.

Eastern Washington University quarterback Matt Nichols is one of 20 finalists for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
EWU Eagles linebacker J.C. Sherritt is a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top defensive player.
