Chiefs fall again

EVERETT – Johnny Lazo scored his second goal of the game with 43 seconds remaining to give Tri-City a 4-3 win over Spokane in the Chiefs’ second one-goal loss in the Everett preseason hockey tournament Saturday afternoon.

Spokane, which plays Seattle instead of Everett in the finale today at 3 p.m., never led in the game. A power-play goal by rookie defenseman Eddie Friesen late in the second period and Matt Marantz’s second goal in two games early in the third tied the game at 2. The Americans had taken the lead on goals by Brendan Shinnimin and Lazo’s first goal early in the second period.

The Chiefs fell behind again when Kruise Reddick connected on the power play at 9:30, but Brenden Kitchton tied the game again at the 13:21 mark. Lazo’s winner was also with a man advantage.

T-C fired 32 shots at rookie goalie Chase Martin.
