In brief: Flu shots ready in Hayden
Adults can get seasonal flu shots on Friday at Panhandle Health District on a first-come, first-served basis from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
The shots cost $25. The health district, located at 8500 N. Atlas Road in Hayden, accepts Medicaid, Medicare Part B, cash and checks. No appointments are necessary.
Seasonal flu kills 36,000 people in the United States every year and hospitalizes more than 200,000. It hits young children, people older than 64 and anyone with a weakened immune system the hardest, a health district news release said.
Vaccination protection is particularly important this year, considering two flu viruses are circulating: seasonal and the H1N1 virus.

Campground closing soon
Lake Spokane Campground and boat launch near Reardan will close for the season on Tuesday.
The Department of Natural Resources, which oversees the campground and boat launch, experienced major cuts to its recreation budget this year, officials said.
As a result of the cuts and maintenance work that needs to be completed, DNR decided to close the area for the rest of the season.
The area will reopen in May for the summer recreation season.
