Roundup: Cougars set record
Despite finishing with its best four-round score at a conference tournament in school history, Washington State placed 10th Wednesday as the Pacific-10 Conference men’s golf tournament ended at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
The Cougars finished at 18-over-par 1,438 in a field that included seven teams ranked in the national top 25.
WSU’s Kevin Tucker moved up 11 spots during the final day with a 2-under 69 that tied him for 31st at 1-over 285. Trent Sanders closed with a 71 to tie for 36th at 286. Nick Ellis and Nick Grigsby (Central Valley High) tied for 46th at 292 and Hank Frame (University High) was another two shots back.
Washington (1,383) won the team title by three strokes over Stanford.
California’s Eric Mina finished at 16-under 268 to win the individual title by one shot over Arizona’s Jesper Kennegard and two over UW’s Richard Lee. UW’s Chris Williams (Moscow High) tied for eighth at 275.
Women’s basketball
Idaho head coach Jon Newlee announced the addition of 5-foot-8 guard Ganeaya Rogers, a transfer from Ohlone Junior College in Fremont, Calif.
Rogers will have two years of eligibility left with the Vandals. She averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists last season.
