Fire closes stretch of Highway 21

STANLEY, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Transportation closed an 11-mile section of state Highway 21 in central Idaho due to a wildfire near the road in the Salmon-Challis National Forest on Saturday. Winds of 35 mph fanned the blaze that officials estimated had grown to about 400 acres late Saturday. The fire has forced the closure of Lola Creek Campground, Marsh Creek Trailhead and a Boy Scout camp. The closure starts about 15 miles west of Stanley.
