Geiger guides Vandals past Hawks

MOSCOW, Idaho – Deremy Geiger scored 17 points and hit four 3-pointers as Idaho beat Monmouth 69-66 Saturday night in the Basketball Travelers Classic.

Luiz Toledo and Jeff Ledbetter each added 12 points for Idaho (4-3), which won its second in a row in the three-day tournament.

Monmouth (2-4) was led by Phil Wait, who came off the bench to score 13 points. James Hett added 12 points for the Hawks.

Idaho had its best shooting night of the season, making 58.1 percent from the field, including 7 of 12 from behind the 3-point line. The Vandals made 64.7 percent from beyond the arc in the second half.

Geiger had six assists while Shawn Henderson contributed five, both career highs.

Idaho plays Eastern Michigan tonight at 5:30 as the two teams conclude the weekend tournament.
